CACHE Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
The course is an introduction to the role and responsibilities of with children and young people from birth to 19 years of age. It covers a wide range of different job roles and occupational areas of working in children’s settings.
Programme Content/ Structure
The Certiﬁcate requires 35 credits.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
How long does it take to complete?
The course is for one year
What related qualifications can you progress to?
It provides a direct progression route to the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce as they share a number of units.
Which type of job roles can you apply for on completion?
• Assistant pre-school workers
• Assistant in children’s centres
• Assistant in a children’s residential care home
• Assistant in day nurseries, nursery schools and nursery classes
You should be at least 18 years old. All applicants will undergo an enhanced screening by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) as this will help identify applicants who may not be suitable to work with children or other vulnerable members of society.
You will have to undergo a compulsory work placement in the childcare sector for 2 days per week for the duration of the course as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills
